Rincón de la Vieja Volcano
It is a stratovolcano characterized by eruptions of stones with water and mud, and fumaroles. Some eruptions occurred in 1851, 1863, 1922, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1983, 1987 and 1991. When phreatic eruptions originate (mudslides) descend north along the sulfur creek.
The height of the Rincon de la Vieja, is 1905 mt. At the top is a «donkey back» extremely dangerous, as there is no safe place to stand. On the left the crater and at right an abyss about 500 mt.
Location: Located in the mountains of Guanacaste, at latitude 10 50 ‘north and longitude 85’ 23» West.
Chemical composition: andesitic.
